In 1992 the Powells were recipients of the National Golf Foundation Jack Nicklaus Golf Family of the Year Award.

William Powell's dream of building his own course has been the featured story on television programs such as "CBS News Sunday Morning," and in several newspapers and magazines like the "New York Times" and "People".

Renee Powell, the Head Golf Pro at Clearview, is also a member of both the LPGA and PGA of America. She has been the focus of many articles in newspapers and magazines as well. She is also a contributor to Golf For Women Magazine. Renee's accomplishments have been featured on The Golf Channel's "Profiles of a Pro," and she has appeared on the channel's "Golf Academy Live" program as the golf instructor.

On April 13, 2002, Clearview hosted an historic Collegiate Golf Match between Wilberforce and Ohio Northern University.  The event commemorated the matchup of 65 years ago between these two schools, where for the first time in our country's history an historically black college had competed against a white institution in the sport of golf.
